چکیده

Future wireless communication system is expected to have a high data rate transmission. OFDM is a promising candidate for achieving high data rates in mobile environment because of its multicarrier modulation technique. A well-known problem of OFDM is its sensitivity to frequency offset between the transmitted and received carrier frequencies. This carrier frequency offset (FO) causes loss of orthogonality between sub-carriers and the signals transmitted on each carrier are not independent of each other. The orthogonality of the carriers is no longer maintained, which results in inter-carrier interference (ICI).In this paper frequency offset is reduced by using ICI self cancellation method and this scheme is confirmed through simulated results based on theoretical equations. Keywords— Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), Intercarrier Interference (ICI), Frequency Offset (FO), ICI self cancellation (SC) and Carrier to Interference Power Ratio (CIR).

Reduction of Intercarrier Interference in Ofdm Systems

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a promising technique for the broadband wireless communication system. However, a special problem in OFDM is its vulnerability to frequency offset errors due to which the orthogonality is destroyed that result in Intercarrier Interference (ICI). ICI causes power leakage among subcarriers thus degrading the system performance. This paper will ...

Reducing Intercarrier Interference in OFDM Systems by Partial Transmit Sequence and Selected Mapping

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is sensitive to the carrier frequency offset (CFO). We introduce the Peak Interference-to-Carrier Ratio (PICR) to measure the resulting intercarrier interference (ICI). This paper shows that PICR can be reduced by Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) and Selected Mapping (SLM) approaches. In PTS, each block of subcarriers is multiplied by a constant ...

Intercarrier Interference of Various Pulse Shaping Functions Used in OFDM Systems with Carrier Frequency Offset

For orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) communication systems, the frequency offsets in mobile radio channels distort the orthogonality between subcarriers resulting in intercarrier interference (ICI). This paper is focused on the problem of reducing the intercarrier-interference (ICI), signal to noise ratio and improved performance in the transmission over OFDM using various puls...
